Steve Morgan Haskell is a critically acclaimed theatre artist whose work includes directing contemporary and classical plays; writing and directing original, ensemble-based creations; and teaching acting, directing and writing to young theatre makers.
A graduate of the revered training program in drama at UC Irvine and a long-time member of “Theatre of NOTE” in Hollywood, Steve has received critical acclaim writing and directing ensemble generated new work such as blue monkey love cuts ( “not just a surprise, but a revelation.” LA Times);
Massacre (“It succeeds as well as any piece the Wooster group ever attempted and should not be missed.” Backstage West); and fucking wasps (“Best Playwriting 2003” Backstage West and “Best Play of 2003” Santa Monica Mirror). Moving up to the Bay Area in 2006, Steve has written and directed original work for physical theatre ensemble foolsFURY including How Blue the Sky Was (roland barthes is dead); All You Can EAT (“fitfully inspired rock parable…shimmering dialogue” SF Weekly); and Baden Powell Wars, led professional workshops with Inferno Theatre Company and foolsFURY
and has taught young theatre makers at San Francisco University High School, The French-American International School, San Francisco Unified School District’s Visual And Performing Arts educational program, and served as artistic director of Berkeley's Metal Shop theater. He is currently serving as the artistic director of the Back A Dos theatre program at the French American International School in San Francisco.
